Google will help fashion brands become sustainable
This initiative includes measuring the environmental impact associated with the production of raw materials, including water and pesticide use in the production of cotton, and deforestation in making viscose. The company is building a tool on Google Cloud that uses machine learning to give brands a more comprehensive view into their supply chain, particularly at the level of raw material production.

Vietnam textile industry growth rate is slower compared to 2017 and 2018
The textile industry continues to see high growth in Vietnam but the growth rate is slower compared to 2017 and 2018. In April, textile and garment export value was up 1.5 per cent year on year, but down 15.3 per cent month on month. In January to April, the export value increased 8.5 per cent year on year.

Zara pledges to make 100 percent sustainable fabrics by 2025
Clothing retailer Zara announced to make its collections from 100 percent sustainable fabrics by 2025. Inditex, the owner of high street fashion chain Zara – which was named the world’s third largest apparel company this year by Forbes – said its other brands, including Zara Home, Massimo Dutti and Pull&Bear, will also follow suit.

The cooperation with Open Apparel Registry has the advantage that the production locations of the participants in the agreement are internationally easier accessible. In addition, each production location shows directly whether other companies (inside or outside the covenant) are purchasing at certain locations in addition to agreement signatories.
